Why these units still trip people up
Most of the world uses the metric system (kilometers, kilograms, Celsius), while the United States primarily uses imperial units (miles, pounds, Fahrenheit). That split shows up constantly — a recipe from a UK site listing grams, a US road sign in miles, a fitness app logging weight in pounds when your scale reads kilograms. None of the conversions are complicated math, but doing them in your head reliably is harder than it looks, especially with temperature, since Celsius and Fahrenheit don't share a zero point.
